The computer was invented in the year 1822 by Charles Babbage, an English mathematician and philosopher. He is considered as ‘The father of computers’. Although many have contributed to the invention of computer, the credit goes to Charles Babbage for inventing programmable computers. The electronic device was invented for the purpose of making fast and accurate algorithm calculations. The machine that was invented by Charles Babbage was termed as ‘Difference Engine’. The great inventor didn’t stop with this and he went on to invent ‘Difference Engine 2’.
Contributions of other Inventors
The inspiration for introducing the modern computers was derived from Charles Babbage’s ‘Difference Engine 2’. The other notable contributors who were a part of the invention of computers were John Presper Eckert & John W. Mauchly , Konrad Zuse, Alan Turing and John Vincent Ansoff. Although, Charles Babbage is considered to be the father of computers, the contributions made by each of the great inventors have led to the creation of the modern electronic device that we use today.
