Who invented telephone?

If you are curious to know who invented the first voice communicating device otherwise known as telephone, then it’s none other than the famous Scottish inventor, Alexander Graham Bell. He is given credit for inventing the first working telephone, which could actually transmit speech electrically. During the time when Bell was working on his new device, another inventor called Elisha Gray also designed a voice transmitting device. But it was ultimately, Bell who succeeded in inventing the telephone, after getting the patent rights.

Notable Telephone Pioneers
Although Bell succeeded in getting patent rights for his voice communicating device, it is believed that several other inventors such as Elisha Gray and Antonio Meucci preceded the invention of the telephone but had disputes in receiving patent. Hence, it’s pretty difficult to come to a valid conclusion that there was just a single inventor of the telephone. Other inventors such as Innocenzo Manzetti, Charles Bourseul and Johann Philipp Reis are also considered as telephone pioneers.
